April Projects

I made these felt flowers for a Sew,Mama, Sew contest. The contest was to make flowers out of fabric and attach them to something. I attached mine to magnets. I cut out the felt and beaded the centers. Then I hot glued them to the magnets. So easy and I love the flowers on the fridge! A Spring basket of silk flowers for the house. I have had all the supplies for ages and never done anything with them. I poked them into styrofoam and used green shredded paper to cover the foam. Another project off the list!

I became obsessed for several days with Easter baskets. I made a basket slip-cover out of an old dress and wrapped the handle in lavender ribbon. I then hot-glued the bows to the sides. Easy and cute.
This was the first Easter basket. It took way longer than I intended. Helpful hint: don't sew felt after you have used fusible interfacing that specifically says "do not sew." They aren't kidding. You only end up with a gummed up needle, a lot of skipped stitches and a very grumpy attitude. I ended up hand-sewing a lot of it. I appliqued butterflies on one side and a bunny on the other. I even added some beading. Pretty impressive for a daughter that can't even walk to find an egg. Oh well, more for Mommy!
